No band sounds more like California than the Lassie Foundation. The Beach Boys did the beach, but the Lassies make the feeling of the entire Golden State, from the ocean to the redwoods. Things to love: Wayne Everett’s perfect falsetto, call-and-answer horns, flute solo on the fade, and that dreamy feeling. This is one of our favorite bands ever. Also track down “I’m Stealing to Be Your One in a Million”, their first masterpiece of a song.
