Bachelorette – Blanket
More computer magic, this time from New Zealander Annabel Alpers (would have easily taken that for a band name) who is about to release her new self-titled LP on Drag City. She is now based in New York and as such must be feeling at odds with her intended passion for living solo (she spent a year in rural NZ to write and record her last album with only her 7 keyboards for company). ‘Blanket’ draws the curtains on her newbie. All lo-fi wispiness, undeniable demo sheen but with a clear melodic head on its shoulders it feels like a stripped back Broadcast (and you know how good that sounds). KD
