Robbers On High Street – Hey Unbelievers
September has been an amazing month for eardrum-tickling new releases. So many high profile records are flooding the market right now that a gem like Robbers on High Street’s ‘Hey There Golden Hair’ could easily get lost in the shuffle. I recently stumbled across the standout track ‘Hey Unbelievers’ and I’m happy to finally be in the know on this band.
With a crisp and slightly nostalgic sound, Robbers on High Street approach indie-pop songwriting from trajectories similar to Apples in Stereo and Belle & Sebastian. On the high-energy ‘Hey Unbelievers’, vintage organs swirl over the patter of conga drums and shimmy of tambourine. It’s bright without being blinding, flawlessly executed pop that touches me in the right place at the right time.
The Brooklynites new album ‘Hey There Golden Hair’ is available now via PledgeMusic.
