Lir – In A Day
Lir are probably more well known back home for their rather odd recent court visits which saw them being sued for breach of contract as a result of a pulled US tour way back in the 1990′s. Like many likely Dublin bands that arrived in the wake of U2′s enormous success they were touted as the next big thing and while their most revered album ‘Magico Magico!’ certainly had its moments there just wasn’t enough of them. What is not in doubt however is the raw, uncluttered genius of one of the album’s singles ‘In A Day’. From the lilting piano to Dave McGuinness’ remarkable vocal performance this song has lost none of its cinematic sweep almost 2 decades on. KD
