Ken Stringfellow – Doesn’t It Remind You of Something (feat. Charity Rose Thielen)
It’s not a new trick, this beauty and the grizzled old bear routine because one only has to go back to the successful Isobel Campbel and Mark Lanagen collaboration (and Kylie and Nick Cave, Tom Jones and Cerys Matthews before them) to witness riotous chemistry from opposing forces. Well it’s happening all over again with the much travelled (Posies and R.E.M.) and decidely weather beaten Ken Stringfellow and the straight from the ocean bed mermaid that is Charity Rose Thielen (from The Head and the Heart). The contrast between the vocalists is a revelation and this slo-mo of a countryesque tune turns from something unremarkable into something approaching greatness. Quite beautiful in fact and made for dancing to in lots more places than Danzig. KD
