The Pigeon Detectives – Don't Know How To Say Goodbye

Craving for a time when the Strokes stuck to what they were good at, namely the short sharp angular pop that we saw on their first 2 albums? Well, with the current impressions of their latest LP being pretty much the same as the first ones it might be about the right time to set your sights somewhere else. Or more precisely Leeds, the home of 5-piece the Pigeon Detectives. Their stock is surely set to rise with their support slot on the Dirty Pretty Things UK tour and with songs as super as ‘Don’t Know To Say Goodbye’ they stand a pretty good chance of making an impact. Clocking in at just over 2 minutes and carrying a rucksack of precious riffs, shouty choruses and a lunchbox stuffed full of attitude this is just the tonic for Strokes fans who’ve hit the gin. As well as the odd ruffle from their avian cousins Saturday nights in Trafalgar Square could soon rumble to the sound of people singing Pigeon Detective songs. KD
