I know it sounds obvious but sometimes obvious can prove to be perfect company for an uncomplicated afternoon. The Veils have been around for a decade and spent much of that time with the revered Rough Trade label. Things recently broke down however and the bands latest work ‘Trouble of The Brain’ was released under their own label. Sitting in on production was Bernard Butler and lead singer Finn Andrews and the two have done a fine job on presenting a fussy free sound. The band sound less earnest too, perhaps alienating their original fans but attracting new ones less concerned about artistic posturing. KD
