Washed Out – Amor Fati

If it rains at Glastonbury what does that make U2?

Washed Out continues his unending pursuit of perfection, the point of course is that he is already making it. The creative force may well be earnest, but he is far from green as he has had the wherewithal to let Sub Pop release his debut ‘Within and Without’ (due next month). It has been a rapid ascendancy for the young man but his talent deserves wildfire adulation. ‘Amor Fati’ is another in his long line of cool electronica numbers, with props to the 80’s, in as much as there is a real song amongst the tropical flavourings. If this doesn’t get you packed and ready for your sun holiday perhaps you’d be better off going back to work, or listening to that torrent of the next U2 LP. KD

… this is what Ride might have sounded like if they picked up Synths instead of Guitars.

Or maybe Chapterhouse? Once you mentioned Ride it had me thinking of certain songs on ‘Whirlpool’ and ‘Mesmerise’ in particular.

Dunno. Not familiar with Chapterhouse. Definitely a Mark Gardner vocal thing going on in that song. Been listening on repeat all morning.

Much of his music is perfect for summer actually.
