Luluc – Winter Is Passing

If you haven’t heard of Melbourne’s Luluc just yet you can be sure they will tripping the light fantastic by year’s end such is the downright gorgeousness of their new LP ‘Passerby’. Perhaps they’ll arrive at your door via word that the National’s Aaron Dessner sat in on production, or through the fact that they are signed to those perennial eye-on-the-ball peeps at Sub Pop but hopefully it will just be the evidence supplied by Zoë Randell and Steve Hassett alone that will take your breath away and leave your heart longing for more. ‘Winter is Passing’ is a highlight in a surge of similar acoustic delights and while there are vestiges of Nico, Nick Drake and Simon and Garfunkel the impression is one of new pastures being slowly and carefully ploughed for maximum harvest.
