The way ‘Silence’ starts, barely breathing, a presence though and that’s because it comes to us in that refined form of folk where all it takes is a quiet chanteuse and a strum. Sonny Casey had us prepped with that title and it’s as good as its word, building subtly like a Stina Nordenstam song so that before we know it all our senses are trained on the pristine dispatches. A quiet delight and by extension all the disquiet has dissipated. KH
