Dinosaur Jr. – Watch The Corners
They appeared before Nirvana and Pearl Jam but I’ve always associated Dinosaur Jr. with that clutch of bands that so defined the early 90′s. In truth their influence has never reached the seismic levels achieved by those other bands but a Dinosaur Jr. record never fails to leave its mark. ‘I Bet On Sky’ is the trio’s 10th effort and this time they may well have found a worthy companion to their classic anthems ‘Freak Scene’ and ‘Feel The Pain’. And for all that ‘Watch The Corners’ starts out like a headbangers ball. Wasn’t appalled enough to move on and glad I was too because J Mascis offers a classic low slung vocal turn. With Lou Barlow oxygenating the background scenes this was never going to fail. Even the lads at UPC are tipping their hat to it. KD
